What time does school start?

Students should arrive at school at 7:25 to allow time to eat breakfast, go to their lockers, and settle into the school day.  School starts at 7:45.  Students need to be in their seats and ready to learn at this time.


What time does school end?
Dismissal begins at 2:25 p.m.


What do I need to register my child?
Please see the link on the left navigation bar for information on registration.

Where do I drop off my child in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon?
Children may enter the building at 7:25.  Drop off is located by the curb on Windsor Avenue.  School staff will be on hand to help monitor drop off. 
In the afternoon, parents can line up in the their cars along the curb on Windsor.  Parents must display name cards in the window. Staff will escort children to their parent's cars.  Children will not be allowed to go with a driver who is not listed on the emergency card, due to safety reasons.  If someone different needs to pick up the student, the change must be made in writing prior to the pick up.  ID will be required at that time.


Who is authorized to pick up my child?
Any person who is listed on your child's emergency card may pick up your child from school.  It is important to keep this card current and up-to-date.  ID will be required at the time of pick up.
What is the bus schedule?
Bus routes are posted on the Roanoke City Schools WEB site under "Departments" then "Transportation"..  If you have any particular question about transportation, please call Mountain Valley Transportation at 777-0101.
What do I do if my child's transportation changes?
Please notify the school with a note or a phone call before the change.  Please indicate if the change is a permanent one or just for that day.
Does my child have to be met at the bus stop?
Kindergarten  AND Preschool children MUST be met by an adult at the bus stop. No one younger than 18 can pick up a kindergartener at the bus stop. That person must be listed on the emergency form at school. Older students will be let off at their scheduled stop.
Can my child's teacher give him/her medicine at school?
